AB The article examines the appeal and wide acceptance of straight long equity investment, and compares it to investing in long/short equity hedge funds. Pressures and incentives bearing on hedge fund and traditional managers and their various impacts as well as structural differences between them are discussed in some detail. The author also comments on the outlook for hedge fund investing.
